Meet and greet on arrival and private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day free at leisure.
Pick up by Great Sights coach and on board the coach as we cross the rich Waikato farmland for Waitomo. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitomo Caves and a short boat ride through the famous Glow-Worm grotto. See twinkling lights emitting from the ceiling like stars in a dark night. Picnic Lunch is included.
Then cross the Central North Island – and enter Middle-earth! Just outside the rural township of Matamata is the private farm that was transformed into The Shire for Sir Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
Return to Auckland in the evening.
Free time on own leisure to go around the city with Explorer Bus (24-hour Hop On/Hop Off Pass included). Featuring Viaduct Basin, Waterfront Drive, Savage Memorial, Parnell Village and Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Garden.
Includes entrance to Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World and return ferry trip across the harbor to the beautiful seaside suburb of Devonport.
